Dear Sisters and Brothers,
I’m happy to announce my appointment of Julie Dawkins as Assistant Business Manager of IBEW Local 2327 in Maine.
Julie has worked for the telephone company since March 8, 1993, when she went to work as an Operator in Manchester, NH. She moved back to her home state of Maine to work at Davis Farm Road in March 1997, where she became an active member of IBEW Local 2327. In 2002, she took on the role of shop steward, and four years later she was elected to the Executive Board as the Recording Secretary. Since then, she’s been re-elected to that position three times.
Many of you already know Julie because of her role as the Work and Family Coordinator, a position she held from April 2008 through December 2015. She was a Mobilization Coordinator throughout the Fairness@FairPoint campaign and a Picket Captain during our historic strike against FairPoint. Julie chaired the committee that was responsible for administering the Solidarity Fund during and after the strike, which helped scores of members in need. Julie has been a tireless fighter for her fellow members, and we’re lucky to have her join the team at the Hall.
She will take up her position on November 7th. Over the next several weeks she’ll be attending unit meetings throughout the state so she can get to know members in every unit.
Please join me in welcoming Julie to her new position.
